The economy is tough. I know that there are many people considering a move abroad to teach, but others are looking at returning to the states. After being out of the US job market for so long and with the economy tough, it’s more important than ever to have good job training. There are a lot of options out there to get more training but one that really intrigues me is the Project Management Training at Saint Joseph’s University that leads to a CAPM certificate.

I have hammered away for quite awhile on the need for people to get more training, and just more training, but better training. Better training means being able to train around a busy work schedule and preferably be able to train from home. I think I have found a great solution in the way of PDCI Canada and their training programs in areas like medical transcription.

Career education is important for returning teachers after being abroad. Unfortunately, it’s tough to get a job teaching in the US after a long sojourn abroad so many TEFL teachers have decided to look for other type of work and some have opted to undergo training in a new career area. The medical field is a popular new career area for former teachers who enjoy helping others and training, such as medical assistant training, can get them into the working world very quickly.
The medical world is a career area even more diverse than the TEFL profession they have left behind. There are so many different open doors in the profession and there is more opportunity than ever to get ahead and really make a difference in the lives of the people you have helped. I know a couple of teachers who have went back into the medical field after teaching abroad and they are very happy with their choices.
One friend decided to become an ultrasound technician. He was able to look through various ultrasound schools and find one that worked out well for him. With the quality training behind him, he was able to get a high paying job and get ahead. The skills he learned will be able to do him good, even if he decides to go abroad again. In fact, he can come back anytime and get a great job as an ultrasound technician.
Education is important. It really doesn’t matter what position or career field you go back in, you just need to find a quality position in a career you’d love to have. That’s why Career-Education.net has a large number of programs that can help you get ahead. I loved looking through their huge number of programs on offer. They have some great training ideas in professions that are in demand right now. That’s a bonus with the economy weakening like it is.

You don’t have to return to the US or even stop TEFL teaching in order to get ahead. you can do that by becoming a freelance TEFL teacher. It’s a great way to be your own boss while continuing you in the career that you love. It’s easy to get start in freelance TEFL teaching.
It’s important to first know your market. If you know your market, you can quickly ascertain the type of teaching that you can find plenty of clients for. Likewise, you can also get an idea of the rates that the markets will bear. Don’t make the mistake of charging too little for your services. You’ll just be overwhelmed with a lot of low quality work.
Once you know your market, you need to put together a few curricula for different possible classes and draw up a study agreement. Once you have those in place, go ahead and make up some flyers and business cards advertising your services. Leave your flyers anywhere potential students might gather and pass out your business cards to everyone you know. It helps with the networking aspect of the business.
What’s next? Sit back and wait for the students to show. That’s a subject for another post.
