Education Leadership Programs For Success
Building leadership skills is very important in the path to success, no matter what career you are in. George Washington University is one university that has taken this seriously and understands that education is more than just books, it’s about melding the future leaders and giving everyone an equal chance at success.
Why is their a need for a leadership program? Often times we think that leaders are born, while that may be true, even born leaders need to have their skills enhanced and focused. Women traditionally have not had the same opportunities to have their skills enhanced. but rather have taken a backseat to the myriad of programs out there to enhance men’s leadership skills.
The Elizabeth J Somers Women’s Leadership Program is an example of a year long academic program that helps women learns more about the leadership skills needed for success. The programs focuses on giving women a chance to build camaraderie through joint course work, joint symposiums and even staying in the same residence hall. Women are exposed to a WLP culture, from their classroom to their residence hall that is focused on leadership success. Women are able to use the innate leadership skills that have been underutilized. Women exposed to this new culture find success together and are able to expand their leadership skills.
It’s nice to see that women have at least a few opportunities out there to help improve their leadership skills.
