Johnno68:
If your level of grammar is truly represented by your post (above), I can see why a director may not be too happy with you teaching at his school.

That is, of course, if you really are a teacher at McGinty School of English.

I have been working at mcginty for short time and decided that i wouldn't put up with it any more. I have to say that the intimidating approach that the director has taken has often interfered with my personal as well as my my profesional life here in Almeria.

There is elements of favoritism among the staff and as mentioned before a high level of turnover.

All in all a bitter experience working in Almeria.

Rather than the director "pretending" to be a user on here, I believe that two "girls" whose contracts were not renewed due to lack of ability and application are the ones posting the negative comments under different aliases.

That's the problem with this type of "anonymous" forum. It allows bitter, disgruntled employees the opportunity to cowardly and anoymously bad mouth reputable schools because the individulas concerend are unable to accept their *own* inadequacies and are unable to accept that someone had the temerity to discontinue their employment.

So, to the two girls concerned - grow up! We're not silly, we can all see the problem lies with you!

does anybody know what the original comment was here? I would be interested to hear about the school in more detail as it has been advertising recently.

I've had dealings with the Director in question and unfortunately they were not positive at all. I have been a victim of his bullying which was previously mentioned above and I would think very carefully before considering a post at this school.

All the negative comments are true, the positive ones he has probably written himself. And he doesn't pay anything above the average Almeria rates.Stay away.

I would advise that anyone considering working for Mcginty School of English in Almeria ask for references from past teachers. It will be impossible to get references from present teachers as the entire staff leave at the end, or before the end, of every school year.

Having worked at the McGinty School of English and planning my return for a second year I will undoubtedly agree with comments made by Nick, and despite claims from other contributors this is a genuine posting and not the work of the Director. For a start the facilities are excellent and the material available to the teachers is second to none. I believe having air conditioned classrooms and clean premises counts for a lot at the start of a new day. I have worked in both schools teaching students from 8-17 years of age and also in-company as well and have always found all the staff at McGinty, including the aforementioned Director, extremely helpful, cooperative and professional. I am looking forward to working again for the McGinty School of English in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking to teach in Almeria.

Well, I've had the pleasure to work at McGinty School of English for around 3 years now.

I have found the director completely honest and impeccably fair at all times. The salary is well above average and there is additional work available if you want it.

Facilities are very good with clean, air-conditioned classrooms and ample resources.

I really am at a loss to explain the nameless negative comments on here. I suppose someone holds a grudge.

After having worked in the cut-throat, dog-eat-dog, stab-you-in-the-back world of Madrid TEFL, I can honestly say that McGinty School of English is a delight to work for.

Of course, if you think that coming to sunny Andalucia and working close to the beach etc means you can idle away your classes and abuse your position then McGinty will be no different from any other school and will, no doubt, not be too keen to renew your contract and the end of the year - this may account for some of the negative comments on here.

Yes, it's a beautiful place and the school is modern and clean. Yes, the director is professional and fair. But, no it isn't a holiday camp. You do have to work and actually be able to teach! :-)

Overall I heartily recommend both the Almeria area and McGinty School of English.
