Actually Prep has a lot of advantages as a New International School. The facilities are excellent. All the classes are very small - largest in Elementary in 2006 was 10. Secondary was just starting with 8 in year 7. High ratio of international teaching staff to students. Classes in English, but Thai and Chinese languages are offered as well. The poor comments above are “sour grapes” from the unhappy ex-head. He should be unhappy for leaving a school with great potential! See the school for yourself and make your own assessment!

So how is the school now? It’s not too far from ym place so would consider it as a possible workplace in the future, given it uses the NSW curriculum in which I am trained..

I have been teaching at PREP since July (sigh-I was the NEW kindergarten teacher, and I regret the error). I have to agree with prior posts. This is school (now renamed International Preparatory School) is under frightening management and staff morale is utterly depressing. Almost everyone is seeking new employment elsewhere.
Since I arrived, three experienced farang teachers left, all due to this Hitler-like power-hungry new Head Teacher. Not only is he an ex-military cop, and forner security guard- he has absolutely ZERO background in educational administration, and only a very few years teaching experience with 16-18 year olds. He really does not have a clue about primary or pre-school students. I am looking for another job, and after I leave the ONLY native English speaker who will be left at this “so called” English immersian school is the really scary, autocratic Mr.Head Police Guy abovementioned. Beware!! Oh, and the campus will be divided after January 2008- a multi-lane highway is going right through the middle, so they will raze the kindergarten building. Parents are beginning their exodus now.

Probalby better to reopen it as an English Program…..probably less headaches. Even poorly run ep’s attract many students.

Ding Dong the Witch it Dead- the witch oh, witch the wicket witch- or is it Warlock. But, here is the good news from Prep. The Nazi headmaster was booted out last Friday. Lo and behold, he alienated not only the British and American teachers, but even the (very good) Asian teachers from China, Philippines and Thailand. And for that, he was paid 120,000 Thai baht a month, and haggling with teachers over salaries who made 11,000. Honestly. By the way, he ripped me off and stiffed me so I did not receive my final months salary, even though I gave 30 days notice and worked tons of overtime during that month. Good riddance!!
When I left, there was no more committment by the Preo Owner to do real Montessori education. Enrollment has gone down and the kindergarten building will be razed for the new highway very soon. There is a fantastic person running the kindergarten (a highly expereinced Filippino male early childhood educator who is a cracker-jack teacher with patience of an Angel). For the record I now have a job I really like in Malaysia, and I have moved on…
