becareful of the branch in Minburi
I have worked for Siam Computer at Victory Monument for nearly five years now. I have never had a problem with Siam. They are always helpful and polite.
I generally find that if you are a good and reliable person you won’t have any problems. However, if you are the type who always calls in sick on Mondays, or doesn’t turn up for work etc. then you will, of course, incur the wrath of the management. Rightly so if you ask me!
Siam is currently undergoing several big changes regarding management and management styles. Things can only get better.
I worked for Siam Computer Petburi back in 2002 and it was the worst job I ever had.Teachers quit right and left, staff was mostly surly and uncooperative. They have a mold called “the good teacher” and if you dont fit it precisely, you are doomed. .and become “the bad teacher”. The contract you out to local schools, some are OK some are hell on earth. But you never get to know the local teachers or the kids and you never become part of a community except that provided by your fellow “teachers”, the surly staff and the Chinese Thai owners who are squeezing every satang out of the business. Only advantage, they will hire you if you have a white face. Period.
I had a rather unpleasant experience working for this outfit in 2006/2007. I was promised books, I did not get any. I had to buy my own. I was promised support, I did not get any. All lies. Avoid this school!
Their franchise has been withdrawn and they are trading under another name, but same old tricks and scams. Forget about so called “poor schools”, they are in it for the money, yours, theirs or anyones. Avoid Phetchaburi as there is a concerted effort by many employers to keep the wages low and make you pay for everything.
Siam computer, Ecc, Inlingua and others are all part of the same company
I had a wonderful experience teaching for this company 2004 – 2008. Great support, wages paid on time, and very helpful with any resources I needed.

For my little article on Siam Computer language school.
Thank you.
Regarding the comment from Bingoe that Siam Computer, ECC, and Inlingua and others are all owned by the same company: this is completely false. ECC and Inlingua are owned by ITEC Group, along with other non-language schools (i.e. Star Maker) and other businesses (several spas, restaurants and hotels), but not other language schools. The owner of ITEC is Thai, but he has very little to do in the day-to-day operations of the company.
Siam Computer & Language School is privately owned and managed by a Thai-Chinese family. All of the branches in Bangkok are operated by their head office (Victory Monument). All other branches in Thailand are franchises, including the Petburi and Minburi branches mentioned in other comments.
This next section applies to corporate owned Siam branches only, not franchises: Unlike ECC and Inlingua, Siam’s internal and external programs are completely separate, with two different foreign managers. Teachers who work in the branches only have to work in the branches. Teachers who work in schools only have to work in the schools. School teachers may opt to work weekends at a branch, but most don’t (who wants to work on their days off?). Internal teachers are NEVER contracted to schools, and school teachers are NEVER forced to work internally. Contrast this to places like ECC and NAVA that require all school teachers to work a Saturday or Sunday in a branch.
It’s my understanding that there have been many changes in management at Siam recently and that Siam is getting back on par with ECC, Inlingua, & EF.
Siam Computer pays the very lowest wages in the industry.
If you dare to ask for a raise, they will embarass you with comments like:
“Well, you are a teacher. You can’t expect to become rich.”
No, but I can expect to pay my basic living expenses.
Working for these money-grubbing humanoids will make you more than merely poor.
This school notoriously underpays and exploits its teachers.
Do not even think of working for Siam Computer.
It’s actually a decent place to work if you don’t mind working for table scraps and getting no benefits. Also, don’t expect to get any supplies like paper clips, tape, etc. The school will provide copy paper, photocopied teacher’s manuals, and a computer which doesn’t work. They’ll hire people without degrees or TEFELs and non-native speakers and they don’t do background checks. You just have to be white.
As long as you’re quasi-competent, the staff will mostly leave you alone, so it’s fairly laid back.
Siam Computer SUCKS.
Teachers: BOYCOTT THEM.
Never even THINK about working for Siam Computer.
250 Baht per hour is all you will make and they will never give you enough hours to make a living!
I have a feelings that things can be better still. I am in no positions to argue with them with very little direct teaching experience that I had. I have to be frank to say that I did not intend to be a teacher, however my time at Siam gave me a new found confidence. However that confidence has fizzled out when months after months my pay never went beyond 3000 – 4000 baht. I moved to a different job, but I still teach my last private student out of sense of obligation. I receive very little support from Siam and the management. I found my branch managers to be rude and some staffers are not really competent. There are some good people there. They lost my attendance record once and still argued with me before actually looking through their drawer.
Weeks after weeks, because I no long need their money to survive, I end up spending it on English comic books and other similar reading materials for my class. Not in a million year that they would pay for these wee fifty baht books.
My patience is running out on Siam but I do owe them a debt of gratitude for launching my teaching career.
I can conclude that Siam only retains their clients by using their prior reputation not a preset day quality.
They have asked me to come in for an interview, I have a BA in English and a TEFL plus 5 years experience so think I can afford to give this outfit a wide berth.
An absolute bunch of managerial misfits intent on only protecting their ignorant selves. They twist staff out of payment on any pretext they can. The company skim salary payments to for an average of 1,000 baht a month. To call the teaching material crap would be a compliment The schools they contract to are low end with the school principal and their clique getting handsome backhanders from the contract.
Siam will employ anyone irrespective of visa status, without a degree or any qualifications, no work permit no holiday pay,no paid visa runs, no honesty.
Total bunch of dishonest scum Thai Chinese and Irish thugs all total social rejects and failed abortions (mores the pity)
