STS is a great place to work. The teachers are friendly and a joy to work with. Yes there is work involved so if your a person just here for a good time then find some private tutoring to do so you can set your own hours if you don't want only the weekends and school holidays to travel in. The owner of the school is kind and generous to those who are willing to work (what job doesn't require work cause I'd like to know). Most negative comments are from previous teachers who didn't want to do the work but wanted to get paid (again please tell me a job that will pay you for not doing the work cause I'd really like to know the answer).

Do not apply for a teaching position at Sunflower Trilingual School, located in Samut Sakorn, Thailand.
They fire teachers all the time. Last semester a total of 11 teachers were fired and quit. Lots of teachers won't even go to continue work on the second day. Knowing that the school has only just over 300 students, the number of teachers they get rid of, is insanely high!
There is a guy called Pete, working as a coordinator, and he is more like a head teacher and he can get you fired in a matter of minutes. He has sticked to that job and married a Thai woman working at the admin office, for the simple reason that he is uneducated and more importantly we all know that no education and working at a school in Thailand, is only temporary, so he has to get rid of anyone who is more educated, more knowledgeable and more experienced in the field of teaching or anyone who won't carry his workload for him. He has to feel superior and will do whatever evil it takes to (sack teachers and still) look like the best available person to do the job
The director is 'Kwanthip' and her assistant is ‘Aileen’. They will ask you to write the syllabus for each and every book you teach!!! (We all know that is not a teacher’s responsibility) and lesson plans (that are 2 pages each and very detailed). Nothing is ever good enough for them and both Kwanthip and Aileen will have so many meetings with you everyday, and will grill you every time over either lesson plans, syllabus, your teaching in class (that they observe as a team all the time), and whatever else that you
may not even imagine, right now. The teachers should prepare progressive tests every
month and correct papers and report the scores!!! Every month?!!!
The accommodation they offer on campus to teachers is terrible and honestly I wouldn’t
even want to keep a dog there, let alone living there permanently!
No matter how long you work there, they can get rid of you any day, even if it’s your second day or second week.
The salary they offer is very low and the raise is nothing to look forward to.
You will never experience working harder anywhere else and I have never seen or heard
anybody having that many responsibilities as a teacher at any other school whatsoever.
It’s your decision to work at Sunflower School or not, but I felt that it’s my duty to inform foreign teachers that they will be victimized, there.
Forewarned is forearmed.
Good luck

I worked for STS and was sad to have to leave and return to the states. Some things written here are true: The pay is higher in Bangkok, you will work hard at preparing for classes, and you will often feel overworked and underappreciated. But I've been teaching in the US for over 10 years and the following is true: the pay is always higher somewhere else, you will always have to work hard at preparing for class (or else be run over by the kids), and you will often feel overworked and underappreciated. It's teaching folks, the real thing, not how it's portrayed in those cutesy Hollywood movies or in the TEFL brochures. I'm sure there are better schools in Thailand - and many, many worse. But I will say that I had the pleasure of working with some of the finest people I will ever know and look forward to working with them again some day. Suck it up, quit complaining, or just admit you really came to Thailand to play and get out of the classroom!

Most individuals who come to Thailand might think that teaching is a breeze when in reality they really don't know what teaching is about. These types are alway the ones who want more for less teaching. I really feel that these comments are from those individuals who just want less work and more time to play in Thailand. Wake up and smell the coffee people. teaching is a job and it is most certainly hard work. So work at giving instaed of taking and complaining.
