there is a clique of administration staff try to run the school with daily changes in policy and rules with ignorance of vialed contracts. wei, friendship, service are the motto of this “bilingual” school which wants go international, but in reality the went straight ahead to the final countdown – and international means “fillipino school” – lot of “traditions” – less of education – i’m sorry for all students and their families.

So many Thai schools are going this way. I worked in 3 Kindergarten positions before. Generally I go to school one hour before teaching (in time for flag ceremony)at 7.50am and then leave school at either 3.30pm or at 4pm in my last position. 4pm makes for a much longer ending to the day (sitting around for two hours instead of just 90 minutes).

This school adds another hour – from 7.30 to 4.30 – and also expects people to stand on gate duty.

Before applying, they basically sent me an email telling me that I must first agree to be responsible to the co-ordinator, thai teacher and assistant, adjust my habits to fit the school’s requirements…

Wow, how many chiefs? Surely if I have a co-ordinator then I cannot be responsible also to the Assistants? Whenever conflicts arise, I am confident that I would always be the person who is wrong.

Desperate school – and far too inflexible in their thinking.

I went to an interview at this school. I seriously detected something odd with the Male Thai owner. For Starters, he knocked 10K off my salary from the advertised figure! He also seemed very stern and unThai!……LOL

There was a Canadian guy who also met with me briefly. I assumed he was the lead farang teacher. After the interview he was ordering me to be ready when school starts, etc. Again, he also seemed a bit unpleasant.

In the end they called me at least 10 times to get me to accept the offer. If this was a decent school they would have called me once or twice before figuring out I was uninterested. Calling me 10 times obviously says they were desperate!

I wonder why?…..LOL

I have been working at YES school for over 2 years in 1994 I signed a contract to work for them. I went back to my country and came back in on a non-immigrant visa which was valid for 3 months. When I came back in January I started work. In March at the end of the school year many teachers quit as they did not like the direction of the school. In other words they were now told that teachers had to start working and to submit their lesson plans every week. The teachers that were here before this time had not really had to worry about any of this. I am sure they are good teachers and I am not knocking any of them. A few teachers while I was there were fired and with good reason. Some did not follow the books they were meant to teach from and some threw milk containers at the K2 students.
Anyway, to get to the point, the school kept their word to me I completed my contract and was paid my bonus plus I got the money back which the school took for security. I left happy and on Good terms. I am sure no school is perfect but if you keep your head down and do the work you are meant to do as a teacher you also will leave in good standing.

As a fully QTS teacher I was really disappointed with this place, I stayed a month, its just not worth it. All the teachers do is write books for the class, I dont understand why they are just not bought, high turn over of staff, watch the deductions for this and that

I taught K1 for 4 months and the kids and my 2 Thai teachers were wonderful. I was given absolutely no teaching materials that were up-to-date, and I used many internet work sheets. For the 3rd MOE inspection I purchased a new series of English and Math books which the school eventually gave me the money for, which they copied for the 3 kindergarten classes. When the school failed the MOE inspection the owners wife blamed me. Don’t step one foot into this school.

I applied at this school but left during orientation. That was during this last October break. Funny enough they were also looking for 5 new foreign teachers then as well. At the interview I was asked if I would teach K1, to which I said absolutely not. Sure enough, first day of orientation I was assigned to K1 and then made to feel like a complainer when I reminded them that I won’t teach K1. The school seemed pretty hard up for cash,which put me off as well. A letter was missing from their big sign, and they had this gigantic empty building on premise. Between worrying about actually getting paid, and spending 6 hours a day learning how to teach from the best direct method teacher in Thailand, I went home.
